The UniWood UWL 1S is the compact single-suction variant without tipping mechanism, ideal for edge-banding machines and vertical panel saws. Slim, lightweight and simple to operate.
The Barbaric UWL-1S is a special version of the UWL-1 entry vacuum lifter, specifically designed for handling thin or porous panel materials. While classic suction cups reach their limits on low panel thicknesses or open-pored surfaces, the UWL-1S uses adapted suction plate geometry and increased vacuum reserves to securely pick up difficult materials. Typical applications are insulation panels, MDF raw boards before coating, acoustic panels, perforated boards or thin HPL laminates from a few millimetres panel thickness. The UWL-1S retains the compact form factor and easy installation of the UWL-1 — suitable for small to mid-sized operations that predominantly handle challenging materials. Open-pored insulation boards or perforated acoustic panels cannot be reliably lifted with standard suction cups because vacuum escapes through the pores. The adapted suction plate of the UWL-1S compensates leakage losses and holds the panel securely even at high air permeability. This is crucial in dry construction or for acoustic furniture manufacturers.
At panel thicknesses below 10 mm, deflection and breakage threaten if suction forces act too locally. The UWL-1S distributes suction over a larger area and thus prevents material damage. Ideal for furniture plants working with melamine coatings or HPL surfaces.
Choose the UWL-1S if your typical panel material is thin (below 10 mm) or porous and a standard UWL-1 does not grip securely. For classic coated chipboard or thicker panels, the UWL-1 or UWL-3 is sufficient. For very large formats or heavy industrial panels, we recommend the UWL-5 in parallel. The UWL-1S can be used from just a few millimetres panel thickness, provided the material has sufficient inherent stiffness. For extremely thin veneers or flexible foils, additional supports are required. Asamer verifies application limits in preliminary tests.
Yes — in most cases, as long as the perforation share is below a critical percentage. For very high perforation, additional foam layers or a larger suction plate circumference can be used. Asamer can provide a sample carrier for pre-testing on request.
Yes — the suction plates are interchangeable. If your material mix changes, you can exchange the suction unit for a different configuration. Asamer stocks common suction plate variants and can carry out conversions at short notice.
