Barbaric Traverse für Blech & Plexiglas

Traverse for sheet metal & Plexiglas with 8 bellows suction cups

This special traverse with 8 bellows suction cups (Ø 115 mm) on an extended adjustable cross-beam is suitable for handling thin sheet metal and Plexiglas parts. The outer suction cups can be switched off for shorter workpieces.

In Detail

The Barbaric sheet metal and plexiglass traverse is a vacuum traverse for metal sheets and plastic flat materials — steel sheets, aluminium panels, stainless steel plates, plexiglass (acrylic), polycarbonate, rigid PVC and similar plastics. These materials differ significantly from wood: sheets are rigid but heavy; plexiglass is sensitive to scratches and static charge. The traverse works with specially coated suction cups that neither slip on metal nor leave marks on plastic. Suction cup distribution is matched to longitudinal formats up to 6 metres. Typical applications are metal processing, laser cutting operations, plastic processing, signage and display production and façade construction. Asamer engineers sheet metal and plexiglass traverses for metal and plastic operations in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary — including material testing, load capacity dimensioning and safety acceptance.

Applications

For laser cutting and metal processing

At the laser cutting machine, large sheet panels must be loaded and cut parts removed. The sheet metal traverse lifts panels up to typical laser formats (3 × 1.5 m or 4 × 2 m) reliably — faster than forklifts, gentler than crane hooks.

For signage and façade construction

Plexiglass panels for signage, display cases or façade elements are sensitive to scratches — every manual handling is a risk. The plexiglass traverse ensures scratch-free handling and noticeably reduces scrap on high-priced acrylic panels.

Buying Guide

The sheet metal and plexiglass traverse is the right choice when your primary materials are metal or plastic. For wood materials, the UWL-3 or thin panel traverse is suitable. Before quoting, Asamer performs a material test with typical samples to secure suction configuration and surface compatibility.

FAQ

Are there special suction cups for metal?

Yes — for sheet metal, suction cups with harder material and higher vacuum are used. They compensate for the lower surface friction of smooth metals and prevent slipping under lateral acceleration.

How is static charge on plexiglass avoided?

For plexiglass traverses, antistatic suction cups and grounding concepts are available. For clean-room or clean-area requirements, Asamer plans additional ionisers or discharge rails.

Can the same traverse handle both sheet metal and plexiglass?

Yes — with interchangeable suction cup sets. For frequent changeovers, a double set that can be swapped in a few minutes pays off. Asamer documents your typical material mix and dimensions the traverse accordingly.
