Sawn timber lifter up to 1500 kg – wireless remote optional
The SWL plankLifter is a specialised lifting device for sawn timber, dried boards and posts. Operated by a single person via the integrated handle or optionally by wireless remote control.
The Barbaric SWL Plank-Lifter is a special lifter dedicated to long, narrow workpieces such as planks, glulam sticks, squared timber or long profiles. While standard vacuum lifters are designed for flat panels, the Plank-Lifter distributes its suction cups across a traverse of significant length — typically five to eight metres — at comparatively narrow width. This lifts long planks reliably without the workpiece bending through or tipping sideways. Typical applications are sawmills, glulam production, timber framing carpentry and pallet plants. The Plank-Lifter can be mounted on column slewing cranes, truss bridges or stationary lifting devices. Asamer plans Plank-Lifter solutions for sawmill operations and carpentries in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary — including suction cup distribution layout, integration with existing crane systems and service connection.
Applications
For sawmills and glulam production
At the drying kiln, planing station or glulam press, long planks regularly arise that can only be carried by two people manually. The Plank-Lifter enables one-person operation and significantly speeds up buffering between process steps.
For timber framing carpentries and pallet plants
Carpentries with timber cutting stations need a stable, continuous lifting solution for transporting long squared timber. The Plank-Lifter handles lengths up to around eight metres, covering the area between storage, cutting station and dispatch in most production chains.
Buying Guide
Choose the Plank-Lifter if your workpieces are regularly longer than three metres and much narrower than they are wide. For classic panel formats, UWL-3 or UWL-5 are sufficient. Maximum load capacity and length is clarified by Asamer before quoting, based on your typical product profiles — for very narrow profiles, mechanical supports may additionally be required.
FAQ
What maximum length is possible?
Standard versions cover five to eight metres. Larger lengths are possible as custom builds but require structural dimensioning of the traverse and an adapted crane system.
Does it work on damp timber?
On damp wood, vacuum adhesion is reduced — here the Plank-Lifter uses additional mechanical supports that catch the plank from below. For sawmills with raw timber, this configuration is standard.
Will the Plank-Lifter fit my existing crane?
Usually yes — the Plank-Lifter is designed as an attachment for common column slewing cranes, truss bridges or chain hoists. Before ordering, Asamer checks the load capacity of the existing crane and the electrical interface.
